SHOPPING: PROUD MARY

I am loving these items from Proud Mary......

Digital Pillow

Indigo Striped Ikat Rug

Brown Kuba Cloth

Tangerine El Sol Pillow

Sorbet Striped Pillow { ON SALE! }

I really love to "shop small". In an era of mass, discount { although I love to find a great deal! }, buying beautiful and special items from small companies really brings things down to earth for me. It lets you step out of that MORE, MORE space and lets you really enjoy shopping not just consuming.

What special small companies have you discovered lately?

DESIGN WORK: THE RUG DEBATE

I am in the process of choosing a rug for my master bedroom. How do you choose? There are so many rugs out there that are gorgeous, sometimes too expensive, but gorgeous nonetheless.

Do I go for some color, do I go pale, do I go geometric? Decisions, decisions.......

This is what I have happening in there so far...

I had originally chosen a natural jute rug for the bedroom, but it is just not working out. It makes its own dirt? Have you experienced this? Am I nuts? With two boys I for sure do not need someone else making dirt in the house. The walls are currently a custom match soft cream color as is the rest of the house. We don't get much natural light most of the day except in the late afternoon where the sun blares in as if we are on the sun itself. So I decided to lighten things up and have a blank canvas. Flexibility is key for me. I like the freedom to change things out often without the commitment.

The bed {not arrived yet }in the linen shown. Modern in shape, neutral, and tall { we have a large back wall that just needs to be filled up }.

We are using the existing bedroom set we bought when we first married. I still like it, its in great shape, and its black { love black }.

There are many, many rugs out there at a great price point now. These are the top contenders.....

A Morrocan rug..... I know we have seen it A LOT out there. But I love the pattern! They only thing is I'm not sure I can get used to the shag thing. It kinda reminds me of the orange shag we had in our house when I was a little one... Ha!

Next up.... the over dyed rug. Great indigo color, love the twist on tradition. Will add that pop to what is now and all white and linen room.

Last is a cream patterned rug. Love the colors and softness to it. Almost just adds a texture.

And I could add more and more.... I didn't want one that was too heavily patterned as the majority of it is under the bed. I just need to pull the room together and ground it.

So far my fave is the indigo. We'll see what happens!

LOVELY HOME

I am loving Ginnifer Goodwin's Hollywood Hills home featured in Elle this month. It's vintage but fresh, lived in, and my absolute favorite color palette.

The kitchen is a knockout going the opposite of what most do with the kitchen making it light and bright. Her kitchen is dark and moody. It just draws you in.......

The rug.... LOVE IT. WANT IT. NEED IT........ Subtle and graphic, perfect for my bedroom.....

Muted greens and lilacs pop off the clean white.....

I am really diggin' vintage wallpaper lately. Love that blue and white paper in her entry. Makes me think of this William Mooris pattern that I have been dreaming of when I saw it in Estee Stanley's home.

 Yellow and black.... LOVE....

Always have been a fan of her fashion sense. Her home is equally as fashionable!

PATTERN: UNDERFOOT

Floors can be a fantastic place to add detail to the overall design of the room. Especially in a room such as a kitchen or bath where there may not be opportunity for a beautiful fabric to add that personality to the space. These tiles are the perfect example of how you can make the surface underfoot the showstopper of the room. I see them in a bath or powder room.  1 & 3 would even be a bold gesture in a kitchen!

The pattern can be subtle.....
